Three-Sport Standout Logan Dawson Commits to UIndy For Wrestling

It wasn’t a matter of if Logan Dawson was going to be playing a collegiate sport, the question was where, and what sport? The Lowell senior finished as a state runner-up in wrestling this season, four time team state champion, quarterbacked the Lowell Football team to the state semifinal, and helped guide the baseball team to regionals last year.

Ultimately it was wrestling that won out, as Dawson committed to the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) for wrestling. The Greyhounds compete in division II, the same division that Lowell Class of 2025 graduate Carter Cichocki and Class of 2022 Carter Blough compete in at Grand Valley State with coach R.J. Boudro

“I picked wrestling out of the three because I fell in love with the process of how hard you had to work to be good in this sport,” Dawson said. “It’s just my favorite.”

Dawson said his recruiting process began with him taking the initiative to reach out directly to college programs.

“It was at first emailing and calling coaches to introduce myself and let them know I want to wrestle in college,” Dawson said. “Then I picked out of the ones that I liked in that group and took visits, and that was really it all simplified.”

The Red Arrow standout is currently the starting catcher for the Lowell Baseball program. All three sports were sports Dawson played growing up and continued into high school.

In the end, UIndy separated itself by the feeling he got from the program and the people around it.

“I chose UIndy because I love the coaches and soon to be teammates on the team,” Dawson said. “They just felt like brothers as soon as I met them. It felt the most like home.”

The Greyhounds finished 24th at the DII Wrestling Championships in South Dakota this month and while they didn’t wrestle in Michigan this season, they certainly stick around the midwest with plenty of duals and tournaments across Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. They wrestle teams like Wabash and Findlay, who have seen Red Arrow commits compete at over the years.

As he looks ahead to the next level, Dawson leaves Lowell with plenty of memories, but one stands above the rest, which was a memory he got to enjoy four times.

“Favorite high school moment is winning team state for sure,” Dawson concluded.
