EAST LANSING, Mich. – June 18 – Three schools celebrated their first Michigan High School Athletic Association Finals championships in any sport during the 2025-26 school year as 39 teams total won first Finals titles in their respective sports.

LHS Theatre closed out its season with a 24 Hour Theatre production of Mean Girls at the Lowell Performing Arts Center.

The cast and crew had just one day to bring the show together, working through music, choreography, blocking, props, lighting, projections, costumes and staging before performing for an audience that night.

Lowell girls soccer upset top-seeded Forest Hills Eastern 2-1, advancing to the district final behind key goals, defensive stops and a gritty team effort.

Mean Girls comes to the LHS stage May 30 for one final 24 Hour Theatre production, with the cast and crew creating the show in just one day.

Smith joins former Red Arrow wrestler Jackson Blum (Class of 2025), as one of the few to be nominated for the Detroit Athletic Club Foundation Athlete of the Year. Only twelve individuals, six boys and six girls, across the entire state, across all sports, get nominated.

LHS senior Connor Rapson is off to the U.S. Naval Academy, an incredible honor, where he will also be rowing.

Putnam had a great meet as she finished 4th in the 110H going 17.63, 4th in the 300h going 50.79, and taking 7th in the 1600m. She ended the night with 13.5 points earning her AC honors.

In the Pole Vault Lyle O’Boyle was going back-to-back with a Cedar Springs jumper and ended in 3rd place with a vault of 11-06. Wiley Garrelts completed his third week of high jump by finishing 3rd at the conference meet with a jump of 5-06.

The eight teams in each Regional will then be seeded based on playoff-point average, with seeds 1, 4, 5 and 8 comprising one District and seeds 2, 3, 6 and 7 comprising the other. The winners of those Districts will play in the Regional Final.

Lowell High School Class of 2012 graduate Ben Hart is building the Ottawa Hills golf program from the ground up, overcoming challenges and developing new talent.

The Red Arrows earned 13 medals in the 15-event format and were led by a standout day from Olivia Lothian, who picked up a pair of personal records while helping Lowell score in multiple field events.
