24 Hour Theatre Coming Back to LHS On Saturday
The 2004 comedy Mean Girls is coming to the LHS stage on Saturday, May 30, at 7:00pm.
One last show. It’s officially the final show for the LHS Theatre department and it’s going to be a fun one. Mean Girls, the 2004 comedy classic that was rehashed in 2024, is coming to the LHS stage.
The show follows new student Cady Heron (Natalie Saylor) as she tries to navigate high school life at the fictional North Shore High School. There, the concept of bullying and cliches dominated by “The Plastics” run by Regina George (Marley De Jong) along with her two sidekicks Karen Smith (Claire Block and Gretchen Wieners (Lily Collins).
It’s a different type of show though. Everything from start to finish happens within 24 hours. That includes costumes, rehearsals, lighting, everything with go from concept to curtain call in just one day.
Despite the name, audience members will not be watching theatre for 24 straight hours, no the show itself which will take place on May 30 at 7:00pm at the Lowell Performing Arts Center, will last just around an hour. The cast and crew though get to hang out for 24 straight hours. With spots to take naps, plenty of food, and lots of fun. The theatre department did another 24 hour show earlier this year just prior to the Christmas break.
The format gives performers and crew members a unique opportunity to collaborate under pressure, make quick creative decisions and experience the energy of live theatre in a condensed timeline.
This year’s production will include;
The aforementioned Natalie Saylor who will play Cady Heron, with De Jong as Regina George, Elyse Veldman as Janis Sarkisian, Kaleb Block as Aaron Samuels, Block as Karen Smith, Collins as Gretchen Wieners and Bryce Berry as Kevin Gnapoor.
Other featured roles include Morgan Saylor as Ms. Norbury, Gracen Simmons as Ms. George, Percy Wale as Principal Duvall, Landon Jensen as Damien Hubbard, Molly Inman as Damien Diva, Aundrea Anderson as Damien Diva, Neriah Peters as Damien Diva and Tempe Harrington as Damien Diva.

Many of these actors and actresses are performing in their final shows, having graduated this past Thursday. That includes Simmons, the Saylors, De Jong, and Osmar.
Every performer and crew member plays a part in helping the show come together before the deadline arrives.
