Dear Cherry Creek Family,
It is with a great deal of gratitude and thankfulness that I share this news with you. At the conclusion of this school year, I will be retiring from my role as Principal of Cherry Creek Elementary.
Serving the Cherry Creek school community has been such a joy, as it truly is a hidden gem. The way our staff cares for students and supports families is unmatched. I am deeply grateful for the support and partnership you have shown me over the years. Your encouragement and trust have made Cherry Creek a very special place for me to lead.
I would like to conclude with an excerpt from one of my favorite books, The Last Arrow by Erwin McManus. This is the same excerpt I used in my introduction letter many years ago:
“What I love about arrows, in contrast to other ancient weapons, is that while you may use a sword, it never leaves your hand, but the arrow only has value if you release it and it travels where you have not gone yourself. The arrow extends your range of impact and only fulfills its purpose when it is set into flight.”
My “arrow” has been in flight for more than 25 years in education, and my hope is that I will be able to look back at my time and say it has made an impact and fulfilled its purpose.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you and your family. I look forward to finishing the year strong and celebrating all that our students accomplish. Thank you for being such an important part of this journey.
Better Together,
Craig Veldman
