Lowell’s girls track and field team opened the season after spring break with a pair of wins over Cedar Springs and Sparta at an RCA quad meet hosted by the Red Arrows. In the format, all four teams compete in the same events but are scored head-to-head in dual meets. Lowell took advantage of balanced scoring from both newcomers and veterans, recording points in every event.
Freshman Kendall Schmuker highlighted the meet with four first-place finishes while also contributing in the long jump. Emma Putnam added multiple event wins of her own and was part of the first-place 3200-meter relay team. As a team, Lowell recorded 76 personal bests and had nine athletes reach the varsity letter automatic qualifying standard.
Lowell returns to action Friday at the Hastings Invitational.
