Top Six Finish for the Lady Arrows

Warm weather and a deep field welcomed Lowell to the Hastings Team Invitational, where the Red Arrows competed in a meet scored using the MITCA team format.

That scoring system rewards depth across the entire roster, with every entered athlete mattering. In each event, all finishers who recorded a legal time or mark earned points based on place and the size of the field. For example, in an event with 39 competitors, scoring would range from 39 points for first place down to 1 point for the final finisher. It is a format that places value on every performance.

Freshman Kendall Schmuker led the way for Lowell, earning three medals on the day. She placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.50, fourth in the 200-meter dash in a personal-record 27.76, and second in the 400-meter dash in another personal-record 63.43.

Lowell also had two other medalists. Emma Putnam finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.12, while Olivia Lothian placed third in the pole vault by clearing 10-foot-6.

In the final team standings, Lowell finished sixth out of 13 scoring teams with 1,039.5 points.
