Our seniors of the week this week are Dawson Morgan and Olivia Lothian. This week’s Red Arrow Preps Seniors of the Week shared their proudest accomplishments, the people who have supported them and what they hope comes next.

This feature is sponsored by Rogers Neighborhood Realty, and we couldn’t do it without them!

Dawson Morgan

Dawson Morgan has a few things he still wants to accomplish before his time at Lowell comes to an end. A school tackle record, a state championship and a 3.8 GPA are all on his list. But when asked what has meant the most about his high school years, he points to the people.

“My favorite part of my time at Lowell is all the people I’ve met and things I’ve done with them,” Morgan said. “My life wouldn’t be the same without these people.”

Morgan has played football all four years and wrestled as a freshman and sophomore. This year, he also plans to play basketball and lacrosse.

His proudest accomplishment so far is helping Lowell football reach the state semifinals during his junior season. That season also left him with a personal goal to chase: Morgan said he finished just eight tackles short of the school record.

The relationships built along the way have been just as meaningful. Morgan named Jack Lamoreaux (now an LHS grad!) and Lowell Football Assistant Coach Nathan Kraatz as his two greatest influences.

“Freshman and sophomore year, he took me in and took care of me,” Morgan said of Lamoreaux. “Even though I haven’t seen him in a while, I’ll always be grateful for it.”

Coach Kraatz has been a steady source of support since Morgan’s freshman year, particularly when Morgan was struggling after the loss of his grandfather.

“If I had to pick one guy who I knew had my back, without a doubt it would be him,” Morgan said.

Those experiences have helped Morgan understand how much he can accomplish with effort and people he can count on.

“Through hard work and trust in my support system, I can do way more than I possibly thought I would ever do,” he said.

Morgan is still considering his options after graduation. Playing college football is one possibility. Becoming an electrician and eventually opening his own business is another.

For now, he has plenty left to pursue at Lowell, and his advice to younger students is to appreciate their time while they have it.

“Enjoy it,” Morgan said. “It goes by way too fast.”

Olivia Lothian

Olivia Lothian has made the most of her opportunities at Lowell, building a busy high school career around athletics, leadership and service.

Her activities include cross country, golf, track and gymnastics, along with Lady Arrows Varsity Club, LINKS and Unified Sports, National Honor Society, Interact and the Blood Drive Committee. She also serves as Student Council vice president and a student ambassador.

Through all of those commitments, her favorite part has been the time spent with others.

“My favorite part of my time at Lowell has been getting to know and spend time with my teams and classmates,” Lothian said.

She is especially proud of balancing the demands of athletics and academics.

“I am most proud of getting to compete with some of the best athletes in the state in two sports while maintaining good grades because it took a lot of work and time behind the scenes,” she said.

Lothian credits many of her teachers and coaches at Lowell High School with helping her along the way. Each, she said, has taught her something different and made a significant impact.

Olivia has been a standout for the gymnastics team since her freshman year.

Her involvement has also helped her recognize what she enjoys most.

“I have learned that I love to be involved and help others,” Lothian said.

That interest carries into her plans after graduation. She intends to attend college and is considering speech pathology, occupational therapy or elementary education.

As she works toward that next step, Lothian wants to appreciate the experiences still ahead at Lowell.

“My goals for the rest of senior year are to enjoy the ‘lasts’ that I get to experience with my friends and teammates,” she said.

Her advice to younger students reflects the approach she has taken throughout high school.

“Say yes to every opportunity because you never know where it may lead you.”
